Living, breathing, suffering with the world and communing with the mountains which grant me passage. Even the memories of hypoxia, hunger, cold, wet, fatigue, illness, thirst and all other sufferings of a mountaineer seem small compared to seeing and feeling the warmth of the sun as it crests over the nearest ridge, as if to tell you: “Yes, you are alive”.
